CodeXWeb is a modern web design and branding studio based in Oakville, crafting high-converting websites and digital experiences for businesses across the GTA.
From January to August 2025, I completed an 8-month co-op with AgCareers.com, working remotely and on-site in both Guelph and Oakville. My role blended Research & Insights with Web/UI Support, combining data storytelling, analytics, and front-end design.
Over the course of the term, I learned to turn messy requirements into usable tools and clear narratives—whether that meant building Power BI dashboards, structuring client deliverables, or drafting UI components for landing pages.
If there’s one takeaway from my experience, it’s that scoping, iteration, and clear communication matter just as much as technical skills.
AgCareers.com is a leading North American talent platform focused on careers in agriculture and food. The company connects employers and job seekers through job boards, research, and client services.
Computing plays a central role in this work:
Data pipelines and dashboards that deliver salary and market insights.
Excel-based tools enhanced with coding to streamline reporting.
Power BI dashboards and backend models that support client research.
Web content and UI updates to ensure exit pages are reviewed, refreshed, and styled to keep users engaged.
AgCareers.com is also global in its structure, with a development team in India and a research and insights team in Guelph, Ontario. I had the opportunity to collaborate with both groups, which gave me experience in working across time zones, balancing different workflows, and coordinating feedback between teams.
What stood out most was how cross-functional collaboration shaped every project—analytics, marketing, and development all touched the same deliverables. This made communication and structured hand-offs as critical as the technical work itself.

When I first joined AgCareers.com, my role was described primarily as Data Analysis Intern. The expectation was that I would focus on data cleaning, modeling, and reporting. However, throughout the 8-month term, the company quickly recognized and leveraged the broader range of skills I brought from my previous experiences and personal ventures.
As a result, I wasn’t limited to analytics alone—I was able to contribute across design, web/UI, reporting, content creation, and even AI research initiatives. This gave me a chance to apply not only technical expertise, but also creativity and business insight, delivering value far beyond the original job description.
Below are ten representative projects that highlight the scope of my work.
Created professional infographics and marketing banners to support research reports and client communication, applying consistent branding and clear visuals. .
Redesigned navigation flows and page layouts for the Compensation & Benefits Research (CBR) platform, including the homepage and supporting client pages.
Worked on the Internship Program Benchmark (IPB), from survey data collection through to reporting deliverables, designing professional cover pages, logos, and polished outputs.
Developed marketing flyers and concise two-page documents explaining the CBR program to clients, along with a digital signing agreement page for onboarding.
Built production-ready dashboards using 6–7 linked Excel sheets, enabling users to toggle between job types and access market insights for both Canadian and U.S. audiences.
Introduced AI applications into Research & Insights workflows, presenting ideas to leadership on how to integrate AI tools, which are now in use.
Implemented web content and coded updates directly into AgCareers’ systems to reduce backlog and ensure design changes were launched quickly.
Supported the Candidate Trends Survey (CTS) reporting process, building presentations, slideshows, and deliverables for leadership and external stakeholders.
My co-op term at AgCareers.com taught me more than just technical skills — it showed me how to scope, deliver, and communicate in a professional environment. The lessons I carried away will directly shape how I approach both coursework and future roles.
Key Takeaways:
Scoping saves time → A half-page spec or clear micro-brief prevented hours of rework.
Ship small, ship often → Iterative deliverables built trust and kept projects on track.
Design is a system → Data, visuals, and copy only work when they tell a consistent story together.
Documentation compounds → Organized handoffs and versioning made my work useful long after my term ended.
I would like to sincerely thank Mary, Bonnie, Liam, and Chris for their guidance and support during my co-op term at AgCareers.com. Each of you gave me valuable feedback and encouragement that helped me grow in both technical and professional ways.
I also want to acknowledge the rest of the Research & Insights team for their collaboration, patience, and willingness to answer questions along the way. Your support made this experience both meaningful and enjoyable.
